David Ratz
Born and raised in Woodmere, NY. My art explores Jewish identity, heritage, and connection to the land of Israel through ethereal landscapes and iconographic urban scenes. Working primarily with acrylics, watercolor, collage, and gold leaf, I create vibrant, open-ended visuals that reflect the energy and diversity of Israeli culture.
Though I have been creating for over a decade, my practice took on a new focus during the pandemic, becoming a primary medium for my relationship with Judaism and the Jewish people. As an educator and community leader, I lead Birthright Israel trips, programs at NYU Hillel, and host workshops at other organizations, extending my creative process beyond the canvas. I use art as an accessible doorway for others to explore their own stories, embrace self-expression, and discover a personal connection to Jewish culture.
